happy fifth birthday, gracefulleats!

happy fifth birthday, gracefulleats!

gracefulleats turns five today.

and that's hard to believe, partially because i disappeared from blogging for a solid two years to pursue life in the bay area, and partially because life is just so different now.

gracefulleats started as a brainstorming concept in 2012 while waiting in line for a switchfoot concert after one of my friends had suggested logging all of my baking adventures under a designated platform name. it was meant to be a play on words- something about my name, God's grace, eating, being full of grace and full from food. not sure if you got that, but there you go, in case you were wondering.

i launched it on wordpress and instagram, and it grew from there. It started off as a college distraction from studying, became a small catering business, disappeared as I was figuring out my career path and moving around (still am, tbh), and here I am.

I'm a dot com!

it's been a project of mine for so long, and it's finally here. and look, this site is still pretty bare. i have no idea what i'm doing. I'm still figuring out how to manage my time for blogging, how to take photos and create content- i'm still learning how to bake!

if you've been here with me at some point within the past five years, thank you. you've seen many stages of my life through the lens of gracefulleats. you've seen me bake through the alphabet (and never really finish) and try my hand at many, many, sugary and buttery treats. You’ve seen my camerawork grow, from editing in iPhoto to editing on Lightroom- game changer, by the way. And hopefully, you’ve seen my faith grow.

and if you're new, welcome! thank you for making your way over here

i'll be moving a couple recipes from wordpress here with new photos and content. and while i'm saying goodbye to my old blogging platform, i'm saying hello to this one. and i think this journey is about to being. Where gracefulleats.com goes, I have no clue. And a lot of it is taking a risk, investing money and time into a hobby that may or may not become something bigger.

And if it doesn’t, it is what it is- I tried. I enjoy it, and I hope you will too.

so, happy birthday to gracefulleats. let's embark on year five together!
